Wesley Mission Queensland is an integral part of the Uniting Church in Australia responding to God’s love for the world as we walk alongside and in relationship with people to enhance personal, family and community well-being. Our prime focus is to support and empower people who are most in need and to assist them in realising their potential and hope for the future.
The Albert Street Uniting Church is designated as a constituted ‘Parish Mission’ by the Queensland Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia, under the Regulations of the Uniting Church in Australia. Albert Street Uniting Church is responsible for the oversight and governance of the work of Wesley Mission Brisbane through the Wesley Mission Queensland Council and the Wesley Mission Queensland Board.
Wesley Mission Queensland was established in 1907, at the initiative of Albert Street Uniting Church, as a provider of special ministries beyond the bounds of the congregation. It was the first provider of residential aged care in Queensland (establishing Wheller Gardens in 1936).
We value our heritage and the journey of those who have gone before – particularly the drive to innovate and explore new ways of supporting people and communities.
Wesley Mission Queensland is also part of the UnitingCare Queensland network of services and we work nationally in close cooperation within the diverse network of organisations within UnitingCare Australia.
We provide comprehensive and integrated support services for people of all ages and stages of life. We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive community, which celebrates diversity and responds compassionately and creatively to the needs of others. As such, we welcome, encourage and support staff and volunteers of many different backgrounds and faiths who are committed to our core Values, and will work alongside us in achieving our Mission and Vision.
