Frequently Asked Questions

What we are:

The Balmoral Uniting Community Centre (BUCC) is home to an extensive network of community care services run by Wesley Mission Brisbane and Morningside Uniting Church.

Working with elderly, frail, disabled or disadvantaged individuals, the Balmoral Uniting Community Centre provides a forum and resources to facilitate the development of friendships without dependency, reducing the social isolation experienced by our clients by giving them the opportunity to contribute to a social environment of fun and companionship.

What we do:

Operating in Brisbane's south-eastern suburbs, Balmoral Uniting Community Centre offers personal support for approximately 120 individuals who find themselves at the margins of their community.

Our team of nine staff and more than sixty volunteers facilitate a range of social groups and activities based around music, exercise, food, excursions, shopping and anything else that gets people together and having as good time!

Who can attend:

BUCC mainly assists frail elderly people and those with disabilities. Assessment for eligibility is usually completed over the telephone by the Home and Community Care Coordinator after a referral to the centre by GP, Health Care Worker, or any concerned person.

What about volunteering:

Being a non-profit organization, our Centre relies heavily on volunteers.  We are fortunate to have a dedicated team who go to great lengths to support the work of the Balmoral Uniting Community Centre.  In fact we really couldn’t run all the activities we do, or support the number of clients we have, without our volunteers – and we always need more!

So if you are interested in volunteering with us then please check out the Volunteers section and contact the Volunteer Coordinator on (07) 3399 7755 or email
