What We Do
Our Services

Aquatic Exercise Group

Our newest group! Come splash around in the community pool under the care of our lovely physiotherapist Nicky and trained volunteers.

Community Life Program

Balmoral Uniting Community Centre recruits and trains volunteers to visit those in the community who are lonely, frail, isolated, or disabled.

Small Social Groups

Staff members host a client’s choice of outings into the local community for groups of two or three, whether it’s to a local club, beach, museum, pool hall, or just somewhere scenic to have a coffee.

Friday Friendly

Get ready for the weekend every Friday morning with cups of tea, singing, dancing, themed activities, and special outings.

Monday Friendship Circle

Catch up with friends on Monday mornings: join the sing-along, enjoy fun activities, play board games or just have a cuppa and a chat.

Exercise Group

Don’t miss out on a mid-week recharge every Wednesday morning with this group exercise session run by our Physiotherapist.  All participants are individually assessed, treated and monitored.  Supervised, trained volunteers apply heat packs, encourage exercise for balance and mobility, and provide gentle massage, and afterwards, morning tea and a chance to socialise.

Basic podiatry services are offered monthly or twice monthly as required, on the Centre’s special Podiatry chairs; contact Anne at the Centre to make a booking.

Shopping Bus Trips

Usually starting off with lunch and a cuppa, these trips to local shopping centres are offered each Monday afternoon, with a volunteer to assist every client who needs a hand shopping.

Bus Trips

Get yourself moving with a fab bus trip that’s open to all clients of the Centre.  Once a month on a Thursday clients can visit a huge range of destinations, eat some lunch, and enjoy the great bunch along for company.

The Transport Coordinator arranges transport in the Centre’s vehicles to and from the Centre for clients who live in the following suburbs: Morningside, Balmoral, Hawthorne, Bulimba, Cannon Hill, Murarrie, Norman Park and Seven Hills.

People outside those suburbs are welcome to participate in Balmoral Uniting Community Centre activities, but generally will need to provide their own transport to and from the Centre.

A play group is provided for parents and children each Friday from 9:30am to 11:30am during the school term.  Contact the Centre for more information.

Movie Sessions

Starting in March, come and marvel of the quality of our plasma screen and surround sound!  Also featuring the Blu-Ray high-definition format and popcorn, make a date at the movies for every second Tuesday and Friday.
